MN Teaching Artist Training in Creative Aging
In July, Aroha Philanthropies and the Minnesota State Arts Board co-presented a teaching artist training in creative aging, equipping 50 Minnesota teaching artists to lead creative aging programs. The free training, facilitated by Lifetime Arts, included an orientation to ageism, a review of the unique needs of older adult learners, hands-on practice in developing creative aging curriculums, and practical ideas for increasing social engagement through creative activities. A committee of Minnesota teaching artists advised on the design of the training. This link includes a session-by-session account of the experience, written by Lifetime Arts.
A second Minnesota training will be offered on October 21 and 22, 2019 in Minneapolis. Interested Minnesota teaching artists can fill out a lottery registration form here. Stay tuned for more information to come.
