Worth the read…Art Cure: The Science of How the Arts Save Lives by Daisy Fancourt, PhD. Just published in the U.S.!
Art Cure: The Science of How the Arts Save Lives written by Daisy Fancourt, PhD., Professor of Psychobiology & Epidemiology and Head of the Social Biobehavioral Research Group at University College of London. Her book details how engaging with music, visual art, dance, and performance can reduce stress, depression, and pain, improve brain health, strengthen memory, and lower risks for loneliness, frailty, and mortality, with effects comparable to medication in some cases. This book has a valuable message in supporting why creative aging is an important practice in all our lives.
Dr. Fancourt will be giving a keynote presentation on May 21, 2026 on her research about aging with creativity at the American Alliance of Museums 2026 Annual Meeting and Museum Expo in Philadelphia. Also, May 22 will be a day of four creative aging break-out sessions. Please find them on the conference website.
